Families can dive into ocean conservation at the Children's Aquarium at Fair Park on June 9. 

The event, which celebrates what covers around 70 percent of the Earth's surface. Currently, the world's oceans are facing threats such as pollution, habitat damage, overfising, coral reef bleaching, and species loss. Kids and parents can learn more about the ocean on Saturday with a scavenger hunt, bio fact stations, shark and stingray feedings, crafts and more. The scavenger hunt to learn about five species living in the ocean will start at 11 a.m.

Families who are passionate about education, and interested in learning more about wildlife conservation, can enter the Rhythm of Conservation Sweepstakes now through June 15. Families can enter and return once daily to enter again and learn about a different animal each day. On the site, visitors may also browse interactive educational activities and lessons about conservation.

All the water the Aquarium uses for displays and holding comes from a 40 foot well behind the Aquarium. The water is purified through a reverse osmosis unit and then through a de-ionizing filter. To make salt water they add a commercial salt mix called "Instant Ocean."

Admission is $8 for adults, $6 for children 3 to 11, and free for children age 2 and younger. The Children's Aquarium at Fair Park is open from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. seven days a week.
