Hand-cranked ice-cream is a treat worth all of the effort. If you think you have a better recipe for ice cream anyone out there, Killis Melton's in McKinney's Chestnut Square invites you to "cream" the competition in their Ice Cream Crank Off on June 9.

Competitors can enter in several categories, including chocolate, vanilla, fruit, "blank and nut," "you made what?" (outrageous and gourmet). Best overall and "People's Choice" awards will also be given out.

It's free to enter, and there will be tons of prizes. All you have to do is crank out two gallons of your ice cream at the Crank Off, which starts at 9 a.m. There'll be plenty of entertainment and vendors, so bring comfortable shoes!

Visit the Ice Cream Crank Off website for more information or to register for the competition.
